By the time World War II came around, Martha Gellhorn more than often left her husband (Ernest Hemingway) back home while she went off to report on the war. In 1939, Gellhorn covered the Soviet attack on Finland and the German air attacks on London. In 1944, she went off to report on the Allies' D-Day landing, Near the end of the war, Gellhorn also entered Dachau with American soldiers. Martha Gellhorn's reports for World War II made her one of the best reporters there could be in her generation.
Note: Martha and Hemingway get divorced before the end of World War II due to major differences.
